Genesis' latest -- Ravi's autobiography: Update (9/24/99) Shankar's book is being re-published in a more moderately priced hardback version. The book contains anecdotes about the Beatles and his good friend, George Harrison.

(5/17/98) The latest offering by Genesis Publications is "Raga Mala: The Autobiography of Ravi Shankar." The book, edited and with an introduction by George Harrison, has over 200 photos, most never before published. The limited edition of 2,000 copies includes two CDs with 80 minutes of Ravi's music, including rare and unreleased tracks. These include the Western version of "I Am Missing You," with George Harrison on guitar and autoharp (also the track's producer) and Ringo Starr on drums, and an outtake from the "Chants of India" sessions, "Dakshini," also produced and featuring George. George is among a list of those who comment on working with Ravi, among them, Zubin Mehta, Yehudi Menuhin, Philip Glass and Zakir Hussain. Each copy, enclosed in a special presentation box, also includes a packet of Special Durbar Agarbathi incense sticks, "the personal favorites of Ravi Shankar and George Harrison for over 30 years," according to the book's promotional leafet and also is autographed by Shankar.
